Mia Edger

Safeguarding & Wellbeing Lead/Teaching Assistant

Mia was born and raised in Great Yarmouth and grew up with a keen awareness of the socio-economic issues in the area.

She initially studied Health and Social Care and spent some time in Ohio with Camp America working as a Special Needs Counsellor. Following her time in the USA she travelled around the UK and France, working in different outdoor activity centres taking youth groups on expeditions. These involved orienteering, climbing, water sports, such as kayaking, and bush craft. Mia excelled in this environment and soon became a Camp Manager.

The loss of a close friend in 2017 prompted her to return to Great Yarmouth where she is fulfilling a long-held dream by training to become a Person-Centred Counsellor. She is passionate about this type of care and is a firm advocate of the benefits it could bring to her local area.

Mia feels privileged to be part of the Horizon team and is looking forward to being able to provide a much-needed service for her local community.

Since moving back to Great Yarmouth Mia has started painting and enjoys expressing herself through a creative medium.
