HORIZON Learner’s Handbook
Equality and Diversity
Horizon’s commitment to Equality and Diversity complies with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010. We consider these principles to be core to our work
Equality
Does not mean “everybody is the same”. It means everybody has equal value. It means that everybody must have equal access to education, employment, services and facilities
Diversity
Is about recognising that we are all different and that those differences should be treated positively. It is about valuing each individual’s different skills, beliefs, background, culture (in fact everything that makes us unique)
Equality and Diversity
A commitment to Equality and Diversity means that the HORIZON’s Equality and diversity policy complies with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010.
The following are bound by this policy:
- All HORIZON staff
- Trustees
- Learners and trainees
- Any voluntary helpers/workers
- Any other person or organisation contracted to work with HORIZON
- Visitors to the HORIZON
If you feel you are being put at a disadvantage, being treated unfairly or differently to others than speak to you tutor, course leader or a member of the safeguarding team for advice.
“It’s not about rules, it’s about respect.”
