Lisa Osborne

Learner Welfare Manager & Designated Safeguarding Lead

Lisa was born in Oxford and went to university in Sunderland, which she left with an Honours degree in English Studies and the man she went on to marry.

She started her long career in education at the University of Oxford, where she worked in the Graduate Admissions Office. Having moved to Great Yarmouth on a complete whim in 2001, Lisa has spent the rest of her professional life at the two main colleges in the town; she worked as an administrator, a Mentor and a Psychology tutor at East Coast College and at first the Safeguarding Lead and Welfare Officer and later a Progress Tutor at East Norfolk Sixth Form.

A firm believer in lifelong learning, Lisa has completed many courses for both work and personal enjoyment, including Access to Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and a Diploma in Forensic Science. A strong professional interest in all things safeguarding-related has also led to Lisa attending many workshops to keep her knowledge up-to-date. Lisa believes that education should be accessible to all, and loves the inclusive ethos and personalised approach of Horizon. She enjoys interacting with such a diverse range of learners as well as working behind the scenes to support the development of the organisation.

Lisa is a huge animal lover and currently shares her home with a collection of cats and tortoises, but has in the past also had rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and a Giant African Land Snail called Dave. In her spare time, she likes to read, listen to music, take naps, and follow the fortunes of Ipswich Town Football Club.
