Disciplinary Procedures

The following points summarises how HORIZON deals with breaches of HORIZON’s Behaviour Code. There are three stages

  1. Informal Procedure
  2. Formal Written Warning
  3. Final Written Warning
Warning Description Visual guide
Stage 1 Informal Procedure: Decision and action taken by Personal Tutor and noted on learner’s file.

Formal Procedure: Formal Verbal Warning. Action taken by Personal Tutor agreed recorded on learner’s file.

Stage 2 Formal Written Warning: Decision and action taken by Personal Tutor and another member of staff. You may be suspended and a confirmation letter from Personal Tutor to parents and copy on learner’s file.
Stage 3 Final Written Warning or following Suspension: This is the final warning. Decision by tutor and Principal. Confirmation letter(s) from Principal. Copy to learner’s file.
If, after a Stage 3 Warning, significant change is not observed then you will be withdrawn from your course and be unable to attend. The stage of discipline action is decided by the personal tutor and Principal.

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE STAGES MAY BE BY-PASSED IN THE EVENT OF SERIOUS MISCONDUCT LEADING TO IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL

At HORIZON we try our best to work through challenges/barriers, discuss a solution and learn from mistakes in order to develop into a more rounded person with exclusion being the last resort.

However, in the event that your behaviour is having a negative impact on the learning of others or is extremely inappropriate you will be excluded from the course.
